Silverstripe developer in Wellington.
Silverstripe was built in Wellington, and plenty of the city's organisations still run on it. I build new Silverstripe sites, upgrade old ones, and look after the security of the ones already running.
What I do in Silverstripe
Moving a site from Silverstripe 3 or 4 to the current version: modules swapped for supported ones, custom code updated, templates checked, and the content carried across intact.
Fixed quoteSecurity releases applied, modules kept current, backups checked, and someone to call when a form stops sending or an editor gets locked out.
MonthlyCustom Silverstripe sites designed from scratch, with page types and fields built around how your team actually edits content.
Fixed quoteContract development for Wellington agencies with more Silverstripe work than developers. Templates, modules, upgrades or code review.
Hourly or fixedStill on Silverstripe 4?
Silverstripe CMS 4 is past its end of life and no longer gets security fixes. Silverstripe 3 has been unsupported for years. If your site runs on either, any newly found vulnerability stays open on your site for good.
Silverstripe 6 came out in June 2025, and version 5 gets security fixes until around April 2027. For most sites on version 4, going straight to 6 is the better use of the budget, so you only pay for one upgrade.
Start with an upgrade review. I look through the code and the modules you depend on, and tell you in writing what has to change, what it will cost, and anything that won't survive the move.
Security comes first
My background is cybersecurity as well as web development. On a Silverstripe site that means admin accounts locked down with two-factor login, old editors removed, file uploads restricted, and security headers set properly. It's the work that tends to get skipped when a site has run for years without much attention.
When Silverstripe isn't the right fit
For a small business that wants to edit its own site and not think about hosting, I usually recommend Squarespace. For web apps and booking systems I also build with Payload CMS. If you're unsure which one suits you, I've compared the common options in Squarespace vs Wix vs WordPress.
Common questions
Is Silverstripe still supported?
Yes. Silverstripe CMS 6 was released in June 2025 and is actively maintained. Versions 3 and 4 are no longer supported.
How much does a Silverstripe upgrade cost?
It depends on how much custom code and how many modules the site uses. A small site with standard modules is a much smaller job than a large one with custom integrations. The upgrade review gives you a fixed price before any work starts.
Do you work with agencies?
Yes. I take on contract Silverstripe work for Wellington agencies, either by the hour or as a fixed-price piece of a larger project.
Can you take over a site someone else built?
Yes. I start by reviewing the code and hosting so you know what you've got, then we agree what to fix first.
