SEO for New Zealand businesses.
Getting found by the people already looking for what you sell, in Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.
What SEO actually involves
It's a site search engines can read, pages that answer what people actually type, and a Google Business Profile that's properly set up and kept current. That's most of it. Anyone promising more than that is selling you something else.
Technical SEO
Speed, crawlability, structured data, broken links, and the Squarespace settings that can stop pages showing up in Google.
Google Business Profile and local listings
Google Business Profile set up and maintained, plus the local listings and citations that decide whether you show in the map pack.
Content and landing pages
Written around what people in your city and trade type into Google, checked against search data.
Monthly reporting
Monthly, in plain English: what moved, what it cost, what's next. Judged on whether you're getting more enquiries.
$1,500 to set up, then from $600 / month. No lock-in: a month's notice and you're out.
The setup is a one-off and covers the work that only happens once: the audit, the keyword research, the technical fixes and claiming and configuring your Google Business Profile. It is charged separately because the first month is several times the work of the sixth, and charging it properly is what lets me offer a monthly fee you can walk away from rather than a twelve month contract.
What I will not do
- Bought links, spun content, or anything that risks a penalty
- A twelve-month contract you can't leave
- A dashboard of numbers that never turns into phone calls
- A promise to rank you first for a term nobody searches
If the honest answer is that your market has almost no search demand, I'll tell you and we won't do it.
Will this help me show up in AI answers?
A bit. ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and Perplexity mostly quote pages that already rank well, so it's largely the same work.
What does help specifically: headings phrased as the question a customer would ask, a direct answer in the first line underneath, published prices in plain text rather than "contact us for pricing", and consistent business details everywhere you appear. I do those as standard. I do not sell "AI search optimisation" as a separate product, because in New Zealand right now it is the same job with a new invoice attached.
SEO for Squarespace websites
Squarespace is good software with a handful of SEO traps: page titles that default badly, image handling, and structure that looks fine to a person and confusing to a crawler.
Because I build Squarespace sites too, I can make the fixes myself instead of sending a list to whoever built yours. If I didn't build yours, that's fine. I'll work on it as it stands.
